I love how Susanne describes the birth of this collaboration and her process, I am very happy she accepted the challenge and will here quote her pattern opening and her advice on picking up colors.

INSPIRATION:
The
Tré Sunny shawl was designed for and with TréLiz’ four colorways inspired by Van Gogh’s Sunflower paintings. Each of the four colorways captures not only one of the famous paintings, but also Lise’s passion and love for colors.

Bringing four multicolored skeins together in a design turned out to be quite a challenge – until I decided to just let all the colors play together and create a marled shawl with different textures!

If you love colorful yarn, but are never quite sure how to combine them, this pattern is perfect for you: It blends the colors together, but also gives each colorway the chance to shine on its own (by using two strands of the same color held together). Marling is such a fun way to play with colors!

This medium-sized seed-stitch shawl is knit in a simple top-town triangle construction, with increases at the center (every other row) and the edges (every row). Sections in garter stitch and a broken-rib border add some textural interest.

Holding two strands of yarn together throughout the pattern creates a colorful worsted-weight shawl with plenty of drape that will keep you warm way beyond this chilly spring and bring color wherever you go.

COLOR TIPS:
If all of your colors are at least somewhat related it will make for a more harmonious shawl. (all four sunflower colorways have both yellow and green shades in them) Color B and Color C are the two you want to pick first. Color B is the contrast color that is used in the garter stripes and the broken-rib border. Chose a color with enough contrast from your others to make sure it stands out. Color C is the color with the biggest impact on the overall look of the shawl and can be considered to be the main color. It is used in both of the two large seed stitch sections (2 & 4) as well as in the larger center garter stripe (3). If you use a light color it will lighten the whole shawl, if you chose a darker it will darken the shawl. I chose to go with a darker Color A and a lighter Color D to create a fading effect, but this is just a matter of personal preference.

You will receive 4 skeins of Zeus - 100% Superwash Merino Single fingering 100gr 400m in the color combo you have chosen. I will send you a link and a special code to get your pattern free of charge.

Pre-orders will be up until 6th of March.
There will be a KAL in Susanne's ravelry group in April. I will be more then happy to give as a prize a wonderful Van Gogh Project bag and a skein of yarn.

My yarns are soaked in an essential oil solution, to give it a nice smell and repeal those moths. If you are sensitive to smells please send me a note with your order, otherwise when you get your skein just soak it in cold water for 10 minutes and hang it to dry.
